Blue Origin Announces Setback In Testing Of BE-4 Engine

16 May 2017
Space News reports that Blue Origin announced Sunday that it suffered a mishap a day earlier during testing of its BE-4 rocket engine. In a pair of tweets, the company said that it lost “a set of powerpack test hardware” on a test stand at its West Texas site, but added that its “hardware rich” development approach would allow testing to resume soon. The article explains that the powerpack “is a key component of a rocket engine that includes the turbomachinery that pumps propellant – in this case, liquid oxygen and methane – through the engine.”  (Image Credit: Blue Origin)
